HALF DAY
Louvre + garden
Good if the museum is the main focus and you want outdoor time afterward.
ITINERARY
The Louvre and Tuileries work particularly well together because the museum opens directly onto the Carrousel and garden axis. The main planning decision is whether you want the museum first or the garden first.

HALF DAY
Good if the museum is the main focus and you want outdoor time afterward.
FULL DAY
Choose one substantial extension rather than rushing multiple museums.
TIMED ENTRY
A fixed museum entry time should usually determine the order of the day.
OPTION 1
Choose this order if your Louvre entry time is fixed. After the museum, move west through the Carrousel and into the Tuileries. The shift from galleries to open air gives you a natural break without adding transport time.
Allow the garden portion to be flexible. A direct crossing can be quick, but 60–90 minutes gives you time to sit near a basin, look at sculpture and avoid turning the Tuileries into a corridor.
OPTION 2
This order is useful when you want quieter outdoor time before a timed museum visit. Start from Place de la Concorde and walk east, keeping your Louvre entry time in mind.
Because the garden’s closing time changes seasonally while the Louvre has its own ticketing and opening schedule, check both official sources when planning a late-day combination.
ADD ONE MORE
The easiest additions are the Musée de l’Orangerie at the western end, a Seine walk along the south side, Palais Royal east of the Louvre or a Seine cruise later in the day. The biggest mistake is trying to squeeze every nearby attraction into the same few hours.
FAQ
A comfortable half day is reasonable if the Louvre is selective rather than exhaustive. Add more time for the Orangerie or a long museum visit.
If your Louvre ticket has a fixed time, build the day around it. Otherwise, morning garden time followed by the museum can be pleasant.
Yes. The Carrousel area connects the Louvre complex with the eastern side of the Tuileries.
